Catch Some Music Under the Adirondack Sky
by Niki Kourofsky
In the summer these hills come alive with the sound of music. Here’s just a sampling of spots to top off the perfect Adirondack day with an outdoor music fix:
Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., from July 2 to August 13, Lake Placid’s Mid’s Park hosts the Songs at Mirror Lake music series. This year’s lineup features the percussion-heavy rock of Rusted Root, on July 9, the rich Americana of Amy Helm, on July 16, plus jazz, funk, reggae and more. See www.songsatmirrorlake.com for a full schedule.
From July 3 to August 28, Wednesdays get rocking at 7:30 p.m. at Shepard Park during Lake George Arts Project’s Summer Concerts. Acts include rockabilly from The Tichy Boys, on July 17, and Cajun dynamo Buckwheat Zydeco, on August 14. Visit www.lakegeorgearts.org for details.
Inlet’s Arrowhead Park offers the Sunsets by the Lake concert series on Saturday evenings from July 13 to August 31. The venue will welcome singer/saxophonist Jonny Hirsch, on August 10, and Adirondack favorite Dan Berggren, on August 17, among many others. Go to www.inletny.com for a complete lineup.
Folk music by Intermountain Trio at 6 p.m. on July 20 sets the mood for Sacandaga Valley Arts Network’s Seasons of Song music series. The concerts, held at Northville’s Waterfront Park and the Hope Pavilion, continue every Saturday until August 31; see www.svanarts.org for details.
